Dr. Rizwan Malik is a board-certified adult, child, and adolescent psychiatrist who has been practicing psychiatry in the Washington, DC metro area for more than 20 years. Dr. Malik’s expertise is dedicated to the care of children, adolescents, and adults struggling with various mental or psychiatric and behavioral problems. After completing medical school, Dr. Malik pursued further training in psychiatry, completing residency training at St. Elizabeths Hospital followed by a fellowship with specialization in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of medicine New York affiliated program.
Dr. Malik has served in various positions and currently serves as Medical Director at North Springs Behavioral Hospital while also working in the public and private sector in various outpatient clinics and hospitals. Dr. Malik specializes in treating children and adults with various psychiatric disorders such as ADHD, autism, learning disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, depressive disorders, substance use disorders, sexual disorders, and disorders related to child abuse and neglect. In addition, Dr. Malik is a recognized expert in treating ASD (autism spectrum disorder).
Dr. Malik has been actively involved in working with the Washington, DC Government, Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) since 2002 and has extensive experience in providing psychiatric assessment and treatment to the forensic population in adult and juvenile settings. Dr. Malik has served other civilian government agencies and extensive experience with Department of Defense (DoD). Dr. Malik graduated from King Edward Medical University, completed his residency Saint Elizabeths Hospital-DC Department of Behavioral Health and fellowship at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry).

- Comprehensive Psychiatric Assessment of Adults, Adolescents and Children as young as age 5 years.
- Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in treating substance use disorders along with dealing with mental health issues using a, “whole-person” approach.
- Providing behavioral treatment and therapies for patients struggling with various mental health disorders such as major depression, generalized anxiety, PTSD, mental trauma, and other psychiatric and psychological issues. Therapies include CBT, DBT, Trauma Therapy, Group Therapy, and ABA.
- Providing therapy and medication management for children struggling with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
